Obituary for Linda Carroll

Linda Joyce Franklin Carroll

Funeral services for Linda Joyce Franklin Carroll, 70 of Athens have been scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home with Don Chapin officiating.
Burial will follow at Red Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Carroll passed away Monday in Athens.
Linda was born November 18, 1946 in Opelika to the late Griffin and E.M. “Doll” Franklin and went to school in Brownsboro. She was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodge for many years and served as an officer. She was a woman of faith and was a member of Ash Baptist Church. Linda always had a warm smile on her face and she never met a stranger. She never turned her head to anyone was always willing to help someone. She found joy in being a homemaker all of her life and welcomed many into her home. As her children were growing up she volunteered at their school as a room mother and became the mother to the room. She began life as Linda but became “Nana” to many. She loved her family and friends with every piece of her heart and being. She loved animals and flowers, decorating her yard for all of the holidays. She loved collecting porcelain dolls and shopping at garage sales and estate sales. She was always serving her community in different ways. She bought gifts and distributed them to residents while visiting the area nursing homes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son; “Chuck” Thomas E. Carroll II, brothers; Jimmy lee Franklin, Theodore Franklin and Hughey Bert Franklin, sisters; Nina Mae hart and Ruby Kirksey, nephews; Bob Jr. and Adam Knott and son-in-law Kevin Bailey.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years Thomas E. “Dee” Carroll, daughters; Beth Bailey and Melinda Carroll, granddaughter; Tiffany Carroll Due, and the lights of her life her great grand twin daughters Baileigh and Karleigh Due, brothers and sisters-in-law; Emory “Totty” and Martha Franklin. AC and Clara Franklin, Gary Franklin, David and Darlene Franklin, Albert and Elizabeth Franklin, sister and brother-in-law; Virginia and Bobby Knott, numerous nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends.
Pallbearers will be Casey Knott, Calvin Franklin, Vernon Holiman, Bobby Ray Hart, Steve Hart Jr., Jonathan Senn, Kelly Harris,Dawson Turner.
Honorary pallbearers are Jason Knott, Brandon Holiman, Dustin Holiman, Jeff Grubbs and James Chamblee.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday evening from 5:30 -7:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
